A busy two weeks.

Earlier this month, Maddy was moved over to the
preschool room at daycare. Maddy adjusted quickly and after only a few days was her normal self. We are told that in a room full of 3 and 4 year olds, she can now be one of the most vocal.

On Friday, Jack celebrated his six-month birthday. He is becoming more and more mobile each day. He now knows how to crawl/swim across the floor – and he’s fast. We have to watch him very closely these days. We also started feeding him baby food. It took a few messy tries but he’s figuring out when to open his mouth and what to do with the food once it’s in there.

Last weekend I took part in my first barbecue competition. I was a judge. Kris, who watched the kids for two days when I was in St. Louis, volunteered to watch them again while I ate some of the best barbecue I had ever tasted. She’s awesome. They let us bring the uneaten meat home so she got to try it all too. We also got to see our first marching band competition of the year when the Tigers performed during the Pursuit of Excellence competition. Grandpa Duane and Grandma Debbie watched the kids. It’s too bad Maddy couldn’t come; she really likes watching the band. She walks around the house pretending
she is a flag girl.

On Tuesday, we had Grandma and Grandpa Carrow over for mom’s birthday. Maddy found that black olives fit on her fingers perfectly. After supper, Maddy sat grandma and grandpa down in the living room and gave them a lecture on … well we’re not sure exactly what on but she was stern with them.

This weekend was Kris’s annual girl’s weekend with friends from high school. She and Jack got to spend Saturday shopping in the cities. I’m told Jack was great and the girls were impressed with
how well behaved he was. She came home with a
lot of stuff – clothes and toys mostly. She also brought me the new Dan Brown book. I’m excited.

With Kris and Jack out of town, it meant Maddy and I had a “Maddy Daddy weekend.”
Don’t tell Kris, but when she’s not home, we rent movies and eat cookies.
